This book focuses on three areas that are particularly rich in engravings and paintings: the upper reaches of the Loa and Salado rivers in northern Chile, and Antofasgasta de la Sierra in northwestern Argentina. Although several of these engravings and paintings could undoubtedly be included amongst the hundred finest works of pre-Columbian art, they are scarcely known to the general public.
